Companion/Comment View/Start page not loaded/Procedure "Run script": Script editor not shown

Symptom

  • The Procedure “Run script” with the option “Directly enter script code” does not show the script editor.

  • The Start page is not shown and leads to a crash of a component.

  • Companion is not loading.

  • The Comment View is not loading.

Cause

On some older OS (Windows Server 2016/2019) the Edge browser is not installed, but Visum uses some components of it.

Resolution

Install MS Edge manually

  • Visit https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2 and download the “Evergreen Bootstrapper”, leading to a file “MicrosoftEdgeWebview2Setup.exe”.

  • Install this as Admin. (If the setup reports that "Microsoft Edge Webview2 Runtime" is already installed, Edge was already present.)

  • Restart Visum.
