  1. First and foremost you should consider upgrading you Java Version to Java 17.

As the required Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is not integrated in the PTV xServer, it has to be installed separately. A 64-bit Java 17 installation has to be provided. Depending on the policy of your company, we recommend the following two distributions:

  • Amazon Corretto: No-cost distribution of OpenJDK with long-term support
  • Oracle Java: Proven distribution of Java with free public updates until September 2024. From then on commercial users need to purchase a license for long-term support directly from Oracle.
  • If you have to use multiple Java Runtime Environments you can configure the JAVA_HOME variable in the wrapper.conf file:
#*****************************
# Default environment settings
#*****************************
set.default.XSERVER2_JAVA_HOME=%JAVA_HOME%
set.default.XSERVER2_LOG_DIRECTORY=./logs

  1. Install additional geocoding data for xLocate
If you want to use our xLocate  service for geocoding addresses you need to install additional data which you should have received with your map.
Please copy the complete gdc folder to the root folder of your map installation. Make sure that the geocodingDataPath in your xserver.conf matches the path of the data.

  1. Configure all services that are needed
After installing the xServer 2 data and a map you can configure the services that you actually want to use in your client application.
Please refer to the detailed instructions below to configure the service modules:
